Megan is a Toronto based artist who has completed her BFA undergraduate studies specializing in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Material Art and Design for Jewellery at OCAD University. Her early artistic training in classical ballet has inspired her visual sceneries and shaped her artistic practices.
Bringing the three dimensional spaces onto canvas, Megan's acrylic paintings follow a precise process that aims to define movement, line, and fluidity within a space. Depicting the formal art term and classical ballet term of line in a single composition, the choreography of lines and interplay of light creates abstract spaces that highlight clarity and contrasting forms that draw from her references of glass sculptures. Informed by her studies and early discipline in performative arts, Megan's aesthetic is grounded in formal values and explores the sculptural environment from a microscopic viewpoint.
Illuminating the sense of space and capturing the essence of beauty through the use of tight and loosely rendered lines, her work embraces her early influences in ballet with her current artistic practices.

Drawing on precision and fluidity, the influences of my early classical ballet training are translated onto canvas through detailed depictions of glass sculptures and its rendering of light. The choreography of vivid lines against organic shapes illustrate abstract movement and extensions of line, influential concepts in ballet, and, now, reflected in my painting.
